2002 – The Adventure Continues : Life in Wallingford, CT

Monday, January 21st, 2002

I am sitting here sipping on a cold beer that I swiped from the refrigerator from work. Looking at overdue bill from the library, for books I never read.

Looking at the electric bill that I keep forgetting to pay. The disconnect notice is for tomorrow.

Looking at the pile of laundry wondering if I should just go buy some more socks.

Looking at the pile of dishes in the sink wondering if I should just buy some more dishes while I am buying socks.

Wondering why I didn’t take two beers instead of one.

Mondays.

2002 – The Adventure Continues : Life in Wallingford, CT

Well the world has survived another year. The space odyssey is over and the adventure continues.

All the news stations have been talking about the year in the review. The two worst things that happened to the U.S. were the 9/11 attacks and George W. Bush.

Surprisingly no one has mentioned the human genome project. Frankly, I think that the war in Afghanistan is to distract the people from realizing that George W. is just a clone of George Senior….give or take a strand or two.

We, the infidels, rode out the old and brought in the new in grandiose style.

Armed with our sacrificial lobsters and a bottle of Dom we sat in our cozy little cottage cuddled up by the fire, reminiscing of the days of lost innocence. Reflecting, just one year ago, that our high energy entrance into 2001 was fueled by the theme song “Who Let the Dogs Out”. Followed by a wild march down the streets of a small town in Austria dressed as space aliens.

Yet there we were, wondering what 2002 would bring.

Our theme song for this year is simply titled “Whoa”. I think this may be what we will see in 2002, a lot of surprises. This first surprise was in NYC these last couple of days. In the largest city in the country, 8,008,278 just in Manhattan, a strange air of kindness has seemed to envelope the city.

On our way to dinner in Little India we were standing on the corner looking at the subway map trying to decide if we should walk or take the metro. A businessman walking by, stopped with concern, and asked what street we were looking for. He seemed a little put-off when he found out that we didn’t need any.

Then again, in the subway, we were trying to decide which stop was best E. 51st or E. 59th. Another businessman, anxious to lend a kind hand, gave us his advice on which station would have the least traffic. Then he was kind enough to repeat his rationale when one of our party did not hear him give his original advice.

Thankfully, as we were leaving, the guy at the toll booth was a dick.

Whoa.

2001 – A Space Oddysey : Life in Wallingford, CT

Saw a great funk band at Toad’s Place in New Haven last night…… Deep Banana Blackout…definately worth checking out.

For your viewing pleasure I have added two new wallpapers in the downloads section.

Glued, as always, to CNN…waiting to see if the madman will ever catch the madman.

Waiting for it to be OK for people to remove the American flag from every surface of their life without fear of anti-american sentiment.

Question…How do the no-fly-zones apply to Santa Claus ?

Thinking about getting my mom and anti-ballistic missile autographed by George W. for Christmas. Not sure if she would like that or a Biological Warfare Protection Suit. They come in civilian colors now. The corporate america models come in Taupe, Mauve, and Pasley. Get yours now! Supplies are llimited. If you call within the next 20 minutes you will get the family size pack of cipro absolutley free.
