I just finished listening to The Road by Cormac McCarthy, a post-apocalyptic journey of a man and his son. A story not about the end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it but more of a tale of human nature, perseverance, and a gut-wrenching glimpse of hope.

The layers of physical strife really just add texture over the top of McCarthy’s message, and if you peel away the layer you find the struggle between father and son to pass on wisdom and the preservation of innocence. This is a book for any father (unless cannibalism bothers you).
